Progress Report – December 2012

Posted Works

This was a somewhat Barking up the Muse Tree | Janet Gershen-Siegel | jespah | Quill different month as I took the time to offer up a lot of my older and as-yet uncollected works. This was mainly done because December is, of course, a month filled with any number of personal activities.

On Ad Astra, I added If You Can’t Stand the Heat, More, More, More!, The Adventures of Porthos, The Further Adventures of Porthos – The Stilton Fulfillment, There’s Something About Hoshi, Completely Hers, and my first multi-chapter work, The Puzzle, A Tale Told in Pieces. I also added a quick drabble taking place in the HGW universe, Happy Stuff 3111.

I added the following stories to In Between Days context – If You Can’t Stand the Heat, More, More, More!, The Adventures of Porthos, The Further Adventures of Porthos – The Stilton Fulfillment, The Tribe, The Conspiracy, There’s Something About Hoshi, Equinox, The Medal, The Rite, A Hazy Shade, Before the Fall and Completely Hers.

I added the following stories to Clockworks context – You Mixed-Up Siciliano and Pat the Bunny.

On Fanfiction.net, I added the following stories – More, More, More! The Adventures of PorthosThe Further Adventures of Porthos – The Stilton FulfillmentFriday VisitBarely Tolerable, Pacing, and The Gift, which was serendipitously posted on Christmas Day!

To respond to the Trek BBS Monthly Challenge on Wish Fulfillment, I entered The Further Adventures of Porthos – The Stilton Fulfillment.

On Archer’s Angels, I responded to my own prompt about Cardinal Virtues and posted The Conspiracy, which is a Mirror Universe story about prudence. Also, because ’twas the holiday season, I added The Light.

On Star Trek Logs, in order to add something pleasant (albeit sometimes a bit angst-y) for the holidays, I added Together.

Milestones

The numbers for Reversal and Together on Ad Astra continue to climb. I suspect that, with them both at over 10,000 views, they are leading to more views, both on those stories, and on others. Longevity pays! Furthermore, the In Between Days collection is also at over 10,000 views.

The Emergence series was published on Issuu! I think it turned out rather well.

WIP Corner

I completed the challenge entry for my own family challenge on Ad Astra. I also began the legwork on a completely new series, complete with a tentative title and main cast of characters. It is all very, very early in the process, and it goes beyond my comfort zone, into the realm of TNG. The idea is to have some tying into Crackerjack, Imprecision and Day of the Dead. Therefore, Wesley Crusher will have a fairly prominent role, plus it will provide some substance to Martin Madden and will continue the family saga, but a lot later in time. That’s about all I have so far. Right now, I’m working on basic plot design and character development. It’s fun to start up a new series.

Prep Work

I created covers for various older one-offs and for the new series. I asked for the following characters to be added to Ad Astra – J. Hayes, Daniels, Erika Hernandez, Lili O’Day and Doug Hayes Beckett. All were added quickly. Thanks!

This Month’s Productivity Killers

The holidays! Plus we had company at the very end of the year. And there’s more to come in January, as there will plenty of family gatherings. Life was also rather distracting, seemingly more than usual. January, I hope, will be a bit calmer.
